To use Spott's Google Ads integration make sure you already have a Google Ads account. If you don't have this yet, please follow the Google documentation and continue this step-by-step guide afterward.
Interactivity on Spott works by generating an AMP ad format that you can then upload to Google Ads. In this article, we will focus on the upload process for Google Ads.
AMP ads - unlike HTML5 ads - are available for everyone with a Google Ads account.
Step by step guide to publishing on Google Ads
Step 1: Upload your image and make it interactive
We have an in-detail guide on how to make your first image interactive. Please return to this guide after you are done creating your interactive image.
Note: when making your interactive image for Google Ads, you can only use Google Display Network widgets. Other widgets will not be exported.
Step 2: Open the Google Ads modal
When you’re still in the Studio, click on Share and “Share on Google Ads”.
Note that this feature is available for interactive images only.
A new modal should-pop with customization settings explained in step 3.
Did you know? You can connect with your Google Ad account and directly push your ads through Spott.
If you see that your ad account is not loading, feel free to chat with us, happy to help you out!
Step 3: Tweak your settings
As Google limits the sizes of your ads, select an advertisement size that best fits your image. If available, you can turn on the asset carousel.
A carousel is only available for advertisement sizes that are large enough to display them.
These advertisement sizes are listed at the bottom of this page.
Step 4: Export your file
When you are done selecting your ad settings. Click Export in the bottom right corner of your screen. You will download a .zip file, which you need in the next steps when uploading it to Google Ads.
Step 5: Continue on to Google Ads
Log in to your Google Ads account and go to the main page.
Follow the following steps as shown in the image above:
- Click Display campaigns
- Click Ads & extensions
- Click Ads
- Click the "+" icon
- Click Upload display ads
Make sure your campaign is of type "Display campaign", other types will not allow you to upload our type of ad. Learn more about the Google Ads structure.
Step 6: Upload your exported ad to Google Ads
Drag and drop the zip file you downloaded in step 4 or click "Choose file to upload" to manually select a file from your hard drive.
Lastly, add your final URL and click Save.
A final URL is a page a user goes to after (s)he clicks on your ad.
Unfortunately, Google Ads only allows one final URL.
You are now done! 🎉
Repeat these steps if you want to upload your ad in multiple sizes.
It's good to know that Google Ads interactions and clicks don't consume Spott interactions. To see your ads' performance, navigate to the Google Ads dashboard.
