Play any piece of audio or a sound effect straight from your interactive videos and images. This can be perfect for setting an atmosphere or giving your users an in-depth explanation. Let's dive into it!
Step by step guide
Note: Before you begin, make sure you have an audio file hosted on your or a 3rd party system. Uploading your audio file to Spott is not supported yet.
Step 1: Create an audio widget
Start by going to "Widgets", click "Create a new widget" and pick the "Simple tag with an audio player in the tooltip". This will enable the option to add an audio file.
Click "Add" to create your new widget.
The following modal with settings will show up, this is the Widget editor.
Step 2: Link your audio file
To link your audio file, click on the "Audio file" segment and click "Add from URL".
A new modal will pop up where you can paste the URL to your audio file. We should support any kind of file. For more descriptive information about the supported file times, check out the chapter "Supported Formats" below this step by step guide.
It's good to know that Spott doesn't host the actual audio file, this needs to be hosted on your own domain or a 3rd party host.
Step 3 (optional): Customize your widget even more
If you want, you can further customize your widget to make it more accustomed to your needs. You can set a custom icon or put text in your tooltip. This is all up to you! Learn more about editing a widget.
Step 4: Tag your new widget
Go to the media where you want this widget to be on. This can be a video as well as an image. Simply drag and drop your widget on the media.
Finally, go to the preview screen to see the final result. π π₯³
Supported formats
To be as flexible as possible, we try to cover as many different audio formats as possible. The support for the audio type is limited to the browser, specifically the <audio>
tag. Find a full list here of all supported audio formats.
