To ask questions, get client details, or capture insights from users, Spott has an easy form that you can use. This article will explain how to do this and create an example as shown here.
Setting up a form
Step 1: creating a form widget
Create a new widget and set its click action to "Open Form". Here you can also change the title and subtitle to the CTA you want. If you want multiple CTA's, you can use the override options in the Spott Studio which we show later in the article.
In this example, I used a small tag with a tooltip. The form option works on every widget so feel free to use another one!
If you haven't learned how to create a widget yet, find more about that in this article.
Step 2: change your form settings
When you've selected "Open form" in step 1, a new tab will appear named
"Form fields". Here you can set the content of your form, meaning you can change the following parameter: the title, all the input fields and the text of the submit button.
To change the base colors of your form, you can do this in step 4.
Protip: when working on the form, it's good to see a preview of what you're building, preview the form by clicking the switch in the top right corner.
Step 3: tag the widget in the Studio
Go to the media where you want the form to be on. Drag the widget on to the media and make sure the click action changes to Open Form. You will see that the override options change to "Open form".
These override options will only change on your current CTA and will not impact the entire widget.
Step 4: fill in your form details
Open the "Preview" or go to "Share" > "Embed & Share" to generate an embed code. When you now click on the marker that has a form, you can try that out now. In the settings panel, scroll down to "Data form". Here you can set a few more settings like the: form background-color and the form button color.
That's it! You can now go ahead and share the embed code.
Please note that the color settings in this step are embedded in the code and won't be saved when closing the embed modal.
Find the form submissions
Form submissions are saved on a media level. You can find them on the media you put the form on.
Go to the Studio of the media your form was on, click the details in the top middle, and select "Form data".
Now a table will pop up with all your form submissions! Here you also have two options to export all your data to a .CSV file or clear the data from our database. If you clear this, we remove all data from our database. They won't be retrievable again.
